Edo prints
Originally published by Fujiokaya Hikotarō ca. 1835-1838. This reproduction published by Adachi in Tokyo in the 1970s.
This is a view of the west-bank of the Sumida river in Edo. On the left we see Shōden shrine on top of Matsuchiyama hill, located in Asakusa just south of the San’yabori canal and Imado bridge crossing the mouth of this canal; the San’yabori canal and Imado bridge are visible in the middle of the print. Shōden shrine still exists today. For recent pictures I took of the shrine, please have a look at my other website here.
