Special effects: burnishing (sho-men-zuri) on the woman’s hair, and silver metallic pigments on her kimono.
This kuchi-e was published in 1901 in the magazine Bungei Kurabu, vol. 7, no. 13, as a frontispiece to the novel ‘Jakkō-in temple’ by Miyake Seiken.
